The United States Civil War

The Epic battle pitting North against the South, industrial against agricultural, slave states against those against slavery. The North had the cities and the Southerners had the farms.

Colonial Times

This posts covers the period following "The Age of Exploration" to the beginnings of conflicts with Great Britain. It includes information, illustrations, maps, and links to related Web sites. The colonial people came to live on the new land. There were only 13 colonies then. They found the land but it was already taken by the native Americans. In 1885, the Spanish conquered the land. In 1607 Virginia produced Jamestown. John Smith was the captain of a ship that came to the new land. Then the Mayflower came with more pilgrims and once they got settled into the new land, they developed Plymouth. The pilgrims came for gold. They suffered through hardships of living because there was no technology. The Indians helped the pilgrims grow crops and have a plentiful harvest.
